"Should We Look At Corrosive Images" Magazine Spreads

This magazine layout was created in response to the challenge of taking a digital article and designing spreads for it as if it were published in a magazine. I chose the article “Should We Look At Corrosive Images?” by Rick Poynor, which was originally featured on the website Design Observer. This article discusses how advancements in technology have made all types of information much more accessible, especially images of suffering and violence. On one hand, these images have the power to inform individuals about serious issues, such as the catastrophes of war. On the other hand, these images are so easy to access that many people become desensitized to the content. Due to the serious nature of this article, I felt that a black and white color palette and imagery would be appropriate to use. This allows for the viewer to easily read the article and reflect on the information without being distracted by loud colors or frivolous elements.
